CompTIA Previews Three Upcoming Trends in 2016 Industry Outlook
Before the publication of its annual report to the outlook for the IT industry, CompTIA offers channel partners with an overview of some of the trends we can expect to see in the next year.
Among the most popular trends for this year, CompTIA is predicting an increase in the importance of the cloud, the new compensation models for channel partners focused on the cloud and a focus on providing the best experience for business customers start to finish.
First, CompTIA predicted that cloud computing will continue its transformation of an important new technology to a critical resource for IT companies. This is bound to lead to big changes for vendors and customers cloud services that rely on the cloud to run their businesses.

Techtonic partners with CompTIA’s foundation to expand tech job opportunities
Tectonics Academy, a division of Tecktonik Group, based in Boulder, has been associated with the creation of the IT Futures Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the information technology trade association CompTIA, to provide training and learning development software for entry level that otherwise can not access it.

Business Cybersecurity Readiness is a Tale of Two Employee Groups, CompTIA Asserts

New CompTIA Study Offers Insight into How Millennials May Change the Workplace
More blur the boundaries between personal and professional life, greater emphasis on the participation of media and strong views about technology are some of the trends that could shape the workplace of the future, a new Research published this week by CompTIA, the association of the IT industry suggests.
Managing multigenerational work force examines how generational issues are changing the dynamics of the workforce now and in the future.
"As baby boomers and Generation X before them, Millennium has strong preferences and priorities on what they think the workplace should look like," said Seth Robinson, Director, Analysis Technology, CompTIA.
"It will be interesting to see if these preferences are becoming the norm as more students enter management positions, or whether students are changing their views because they take more responsibilities to customers, communities, employees and shareholders."
The flexibility of the workplace
Younger workers who have grown up in an era where flexibility is the norm hope to expand their ways of working. Boomers want to work for companies that offer telecommuting option, even if it means accepting lower wages. Companies that do not offer telecommuting option is considered obsolete.
In all age groups, most workers want an agreement that includes a couple of days at the office and a couple of days at home, with a greater number of days in the office. Collaboration, connection and creativity that results from the face to face interaction with colleagues is still important for employees, regardless of age.
Social Media
Employees between 20 and 30 years are much more likely to use social networks like Facebook, for work purposes - three in 10 in each age group. In contrast, less than 20 percent of boomers use Facebook for business and 25 percent do not use Facebook at all, for work or for personal use.
The blurring of boundaries between work and personal life - and the information shared through social media channels - is a cause of concern for business and recognized as a potential problem employees. Most workers in all age groups (64 percent) believe that the media, the harmful effects of labor productivity.
"Organizations should seriously consider building a policy regarding social networks to define appropriate behaviors and minimize the risk of sharing sensitive data," Robinson said.
This may be difficult in the workplace of the future, however. Younger workers are more connection between social networks and their work and feel that their social media skills are an important part of the skill set they bring to their work.

The site has been redesigned to be more efficient for candidates for certification, IT professionals, partners, students, human resource executives, HR managers and other visitors.

CompTIA's refreshed exam aims to close skills gap in data centres
CompTIA has refreshed its CompTIA Server+ certification exam with a greater emphasis on security, storage and virtualisation.
The update comes as CompTIA’s international workforce Study 2015 found that server and data centre management skills were one of the top five areas where businesses are looking to minimise skills gaps among IT staff members.
For example, four in ten businesses surveyed cited the need to close gaps in server and data skills, which the company says its new certification will help to combat.
The IT industry’s trade association certification exam is internationally recognised that validates foundation level skills and knowledge in server technologies.
The latest version of the exam (SK0-004) covers a broad range of skills that are related to how server and data storage administration works in the IT environment.
For example, cloud storage, security, scalability, hardware, software, storage, best practices and disaster recovery to name a few are all areas covered in the new exam.
Jason Eckert, dean of technology at triOS College Business Technology Healthcare, said via CompTIA's certification website: “We feel very strongly about certification as a means to help students feel confident in their skills.”
Another separate survey of IT professionals found that approximately three in 10 plan to pursue training and certification in server skills.

CompTIA Becomes National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2015 Champion
CompTIA, the information technology (IT) industry association, announced today that it has become a champion of the Month of National Cybersecurity Awareness (NCASM) 2015 CompTIA joined a growing global effort among schools and universities, government agencies, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote awareness of online security.
Celebrated annually on October Awareness Month, National Cyber Security was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure that everyone has the resources necessary to stay safe and secure online. As an official champion, CompTIA recognizes their commitment to cyber security and online safety.
"Whether at home or at work, in the classroom or on the road, there is a need for us all to be vigilant with our online activities so we do not become a victim of cyber thieves and hackers," he said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO of CompTIA. "Cybersecurity Insurance depends on human actions, education and knowledge. We are pleased to join other champions of the Month of National Cybersecurity Awareness of this outreach effort to the need for cybersecurity."

CompTIA: IT Professionals Face New Challenges as Organizations Become More Digital
Information technology jobs are not as simple or easy as it used to be with the evolution of new technologies.
IT professionals are more burdened in their job responsibilities because technology digitizes more according to a recent report by the IT industry association CompTIA time.
IT professionals are forced to reassess their duties and responsibilities as a greater variety of options emerging technologies in organizations. The CompTIA report also indicates that the new technologies of cloud computing and mobile companies are leading this change.
IT teams find that the construction and organization of business systems such as data storage, mobile devices and applications have become more complex.
"This is true both at the rear end of the IT architecture, where applications crunch and the number of databases, and the front end, where users interact with the rear end and perform daily operations are housed," says Seth Robinson, senior director of CompTIA and analysis technology. "Cloud computing and mobile devices have transformed the two, with the cloud changing the way mobile devices are built and systems to drive new experiences and workflows."
Of all the new challenges IT professionals face modern technology, digital data and cybersecurity are considered the most problematic. In the past, these areas were an important part of IT operations, but recently their importance has been magnified because organizations adopting the new cloud and other moving parts.
"New threats have emerged as a result of the cloud and mobility, so understanding these threats is a priority for the IT team, as well as traditional threats remain effective," Robinson said. "It's not easy."
Changes Driven Cloud
The most notable change in the IT function caused by cloud computing solutions is the way storage is managed. Cloud solutions, such as databases and analytical services allow companies to create long-range plans that go beyond data storage easily.
"Backup and disaster recovery is a good example of a process that has been re-imagined, especially for companies in the SME segment that previously had little activity in this area," Robinson said.
Sixty-one percent of IT professionals surveyed by CompTIA said the most important for the management of back-end architecture challenge is to keep costs down. Although many companies have found that the cloud economically neutral, there is always an expectation among customers for a lower price.
IT professionals have noted that other challenges with the complexity of back-end systems involved in the treatment of several models such as choosing the right model. Research also shows that CompTIA IT solutions and services and data security are two areas in which a small number of MSF have well-developed skills.

Internet of Things Market Progressing, but Challenges Remain, CompTIA Research Brief Reveals:
CompTIA evaluating brief internet search shows the objects over ten executives of the IT industry have taken steps to realize the opportunities of IO. One in three executives believe that new opportunities will improve their results in the next one or two years.At the same time, a number of problems remain. Fifty-three percent of respondents believe that the publicity surrounding the IO market is ahead of itself, a rate comparable to the results in 2014 CompTIA survey.
"The data points to the IO progress on many fronts, but also confirms that, like many markets of emerging technologies, will take time to develop the IO," said Tim Herbert, senior vice president of research and knowledge market, CompTIA.
"Many aspects of IO - standards, governance, security and privacy, skilled workers and other issues. - The need to establish before the market can really blossom"

CompTIA IT Association has announced the first details of its IT initiative career boost 'dream' in the UK.Sleep is a resource library, speaker presentations and networking events that connects 10,000 people in IT careers.
It will have 2,015 EMEA Member Conference & Partner CompTIA October 19 to 20 and aims to address the skills gap in the UK, encouraging more women to join the IT industry.
"The IT market is changing at a remarkable pace, and customers are higher than ever the products and services they buy expectations," CompTIA said in a statement.
"It is an exciting moment for us all, but we all need to ensure we have in place strategies that take into account the long-term changes in the industry."
Learning will be a priority, with discussions taking place about how SMEs and other companies can leverage workforce and learners seeking special skills they can offer.

Technology is not the biggest security problem: CompTIA:
There is a misconception that technology represents the greatest
security risk for companies, but it is only part of the problem,
according to CompTIA.
The association of the industry, said companies often leave them vulnerable to violations of information, despite the technology, but said there are ways to reduce risk.
CompTIA member communities vice president Jim Hamilton said an area where businesses are leaving themselves vulnerable due to lack of security policies.
He said then that all firms must have strong security policies across the enterprise, in reality, many companies do not implement policies after a violation occurs.
"Awareness creates action, which is very valuable to strengthen security. Companies should use strategies to raise awareness through systematic implementation updating and communicating, rather than wait for the breach of cyber security," he said.
According to Hamilton, the implementation of strict policies design can be difficult to reconcile with the ease of use and practicality especially since many employees use their own devices and applications at work, which can make the entire IT landscape more difficult handle.

The association of the industry, said companies often leave them vulnerable to violations of information, despite the technology, but said there are ways to reduce risk.
CompTIA member communities vice president Jim Hamilton said an area where businesses are leaving themselves vulnerable due to lack of security policies.

CompTIA is expanding its public awareness efforts to create a more
unified organization of services, including full integration of
TechAmerica brand their efforts under one banner.
TechAmerica assets, including local, state, federal and international groups will be held under the name of CompTIA, according to the announcement. CompTIA has acquired the assets of TechAmerica May, but so far, three groups of society in the public sector remained as separate entities from the parent organization.

Each of these groups are fully integrated into the existing list of board members and advisory communities that the company is working to streamline its communications, and a more unified overall IT industry effort. "We believe and are fully committed to our comprehensive approach to improve the prospects of the IT industry," said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO of CompTIA, said in a statement. "This approach takes advantage of all the forces of CompTIA-education and accreditation, advocacy and philanthropy. To highlight all CompTIA for its members and the industry it makes sense to align in a single, recognizable brand."
With the merger of TechAmerica brand, CompTIA is committed to carrying out policy priorities in three areas, including issues of state government, federal policy and trade regulation and compliance, according to one d.
