Business Cybersecurity Readiness is a Tale of Two Employee Groups, CompTIA Asserts

Organizations seeking to strengthen their defenses against threats to cyber security must begin with two groups of employees, CompTIA speaker, the association of the IT industry, advised during a cybersecurity panel presentation on Tuesday.

"Everyone in your organization has a role to play," said Randi Parker, director, public policy and public awareness, CompTIA. "This includes having employees, which may or may not have a security role in employment or IT, and employees want."

Parker's statements came during a panel organized by Congressman cybersecurity. Bill Foster (D-Ill.) And organized by ByteGrid.

Search by CompTIA and other organizations consistently show that human error is the main contributor to security breaches, still under study, commissioned in October 2015 CompTIA-1,200 full-time workers in the US It found that 45 percent did not receive any training in cyber security at work.

"Early investment in employee training can really mitigate many of the security problems facing companies," Parker said.

Employees need that organizations are needed to fill the jobs estimated 230,000-plus cybersecurity currently open in the country.

"Open jobs that are not filled to create a greater exposure to the risks that are out there," Parker said. "Having a complete solid work hand means you will have more people to reinforce the lines of defense. We must do more to push people in this area."
